At the end of March SCCALE’s community of practice reunited in Brussels. The meeting was a good opportunity for SCCALE pilots and replication sites, but also for other starting communities in Europe to share experience and discuss ways to address the challenges encountered by the participants while setting up/running their projects.
A small group of people from starting community energy projects all over Europe came to Brussels for this one-day event. In the morning, the SCCALE pilots presented their main progress and achievements to the participants and to the project’s advisory board. Each pilot also highlighted some of the challenges encountered and how they addressed them.
In the afternoon, we hosted a presentation from Brupower, the new energy community for the Brussels’ region. Born in May 2022, the cooperative gained a lot of interest and installed their first 50 solar panels in March 2024.
In the last part of the meeting, Energy Cities and Enercoop facilitated a co-development worskhop. Thanks to a highly participative approach based on the collective intelligence methodology, participants were able to share some of the roadblocks to their community energy projects, and receive concrete suggestions on how to address them from the SCCALE helpdesk and the other participants.
With the project approaching its end in November 2024, the meeting was a perfect occasion to touch base with our learning community and share some of the project’s outcomes, such as the Toolkit, who has been recently finalised and will be validated in the following months.
Save the date for the project’s final conference, that will take place on October 7th in Brussels.!
